4/1/2024 0 Comments Epson printer errorI would rather not buy a new printer if I can solve this as it's better for the environment. It's very annoying, it feels like built-in obsolescence. I think something like a factory reset would potentially solve the problem but Epson informed me there is no way to perform one, which I'm not sure I believe. I am convinced this is a software problem as it happens the split second it is turned on, there is no mechanical activity at all. This is a purposeful design flaw as most of the epson printers with the 0X9A problem all fail at about one year old and it does not matter if you use original OEM eposn ink or refills or CIS systems. I did dismantle the printer and reassemble and could not find anything obviously wrong. As a precaution for my remaining epson printer i decided to take apart the print head and seal it with gasket maker, including the cables and ports. In the documentation it says contact Epson support, which I did and they were useless and said it needed to be sent for repair, which seems pointless as it cost about £40 and I'm sure a repair would likely cost more. I turn it on the other day and the power button is flashing and it says: I have a Epson XP-442 printer that i've had for a couple of years but not used much, i'd say it's printed maybe 50 sheets and scanned once, so it's basically new.
